| Mutual Mentoring
Mutual
Mentoring involves a special relationship between two women who
love the Lord and want to encourage one another in their personal
and spiritual growth. Each woman realizes that she is still learning
and developing, but she is willing to share with, listen to, accept
and affirm the other in her daily journey.
You can use The Intentional Woman workbook and process
as an effective and exciting mentoring tool, whether within the
context of your church’s women’s ministry or with your
neighbor, the mother of your child’s pal, or your own best
friend. In a private and comfortable setting, you both can individually
explore your life experiences while sharing answers with one another.
You can work through the IW book over a six week time period,
discussing prep steps the first week and then moving through the
five IW steps. Or you could spread it over several months meeting
every other week—or in whatever way fits your time schedule.
We suggest each person serve as a prayer partner and listener for
the other. If you feel that time and distance limits your options
for meeting, be creative. Several other women have shared this experience
by interacting via phone, email, or instant messaging.
You
can adapt ideas for your time together from the Guideline for Facilitation
section pages 139-147 of the workbook. We recommend that you design
your time together with reasonable time boundaries. You can read
the book together during your time or assign specific sections to
read and complete ahead of time.
Regardless of your age or life stage this one-on-one mentoring
tool is making a significant and positive difference in women’s
lives all across the country. Consider doing this with a friend.
